Westport Weston Chapter Local Lunchtime CLE Meeting:

Robert Russo -- Prejudment Remedy Applications in Connecticut

*CLE Credits:
CT: 1.0 CT Credits
NY: 0.0 CLE Credits

Cost: $20 (Buffet Lunch)

Speaker: Robert Russo, Russo & Associates, LLC

Rob has been an active litigator in property and small business matters for over ten years, primarily in the Stamford and Bridgeport State Superior Courts. Rob also currently serves as an Attorney Trial Referee in the Civil Division of Bridgeport Superior Court where he settles cases for Judge Bellis and tries security deposit and commercial lease disputes for the Housing Division.  Rob estimates that he has filed over three dozen prejudgment remedy applications and defended against about half that many.  Before practicing law, Rob was the Deputy Chief of Staff to Christopher Shays, the Director of Governor Rell’s Fairfield County office and briefly, the State Senator from the 22nd District.

Program Description:  You will learn about Prejudment Remedy Applications in Connecticut (Conn. Gen. Stat. §52-278) and how you can use them to accelerate your client’s claims (or how they may be used against you to harm your client’s right to due process!)

We will cover the advantages to Plaintiffs of starting all lawsuits with a prejudment remedy application and the downsides when you represent the Defendant. We will also address all of the statutory challenges that arise with proving and maintaining a prejudgment remedy attachment.
